About the Event

Museums are often seen as the bastions of knowledge, and yet they get things wrong more often than you would think. Objects can be lost, mislabelled, or miss-interpreted, so a bottle of plum brandy becomes a zoological specimen and a scarlet jacket becomes a Sudan War relic. Using our recent research into the military jacket on display in our museum, I will explore how museums curate knowledge and what happens when they get it wrong.
