Official Closing FINISSAGE: RESPIRE, RESPIRE PERFORMANCE MEL O’CALLAGHAN: CENTRE OF THE CENTRE

The performance will move through an intimate choreography of breathing techniques accompanied by a harp. Over time, the performer will breathe faster and deeper and may enter a trance-like state that can range from meditative to ecstatic or even hallucinatory. The reverberating sound of breathing penetrates the space creating a Gesamtkunstwerk (total artwork) as the whole gallery space performs. The glass sculptures amplify and resonate the rhythmic cycles of the breath work performed. The performance is accompanied by a 20-minute, pre-recorded harp score.
