DUBBO REGION ORAL HISTORY

Oral History Project

Home to our unique collection of photographs, books, maps and documents related specifically to the Dubbo and the surrounding region.  The collection has been developed over 60 years and is available to the public for research purposes within the Local Studies Research Room (see visit) This research and the collection help shape our museums exhibitions throughout the year.

How it Works

One of the only regional galleries in NSW to permanently display its collection, our collection strategy is unique for its focus on the animal. This is a rich vein of exploration for artists and the Collection features dazzling variety of mediums, styles and approaches to the subject. Featuring works from some of Australia’s best contemporary artists this collection will captivate.

Donate

Works of art make their way into the Collection through a number of ways, but the most common is donation. From gifts, estates and Government Cultural Gifts Program our Collection has been the beneficiary of many donations. We encourage you to speak with our curatorial team about your donation.

Community can donate objects, photographs and documents to our collection, these donations help tell the unique stories of Dubbo and its residents. If your donation relates directly to Dubbo and the surrounding Local Government Area, including Wellington and surrounding villages then let us know about it via the form below or call and we can explain the simple steps involved.
